Tropical Building Systems has a small but highly capable management team and concentrates on a large talented local building team. We have deliberately kept the management size of Tropical Building Systems small so that we are not burdened with high overheads, thus enabling us to offer high quality and service at a highly competitive price.
Mark Keatinge
Tropical Building Systems was started and is headed by Mark, who also heads the construction division. An Australian shipwright, he has 40 years experience in the building construction industry and as a yacht builder.
His main area of expertise in building construction has been in pre-fabrication of timber houses structures, roofs and staircases and other internal joinery. His training in boat building gives him a strong foundation in templating, which is the basis of all prefabrication. He has been working in Indonesia for ever increasing periods since 1973.
He is an active member of the local Balinese communiy in Sanur.
Ketut Mariani
Ketut, Mark’s Balinese wife, apart from taking care of the Balinese spiritual side of the company, runs the Administration Division comprising manpower, purchasing, accounting and logistics. She grew up in a family of carpenters and often is found in the factory with tools in hand.
Wayan Sugiarta
Wayan is an architect and as Mark Keatinge's assistant controls all aspects of construction.
Made Suwena
Pak Made, Wayan Sugiarta's father, is our senior carpenter. He is an Undagi, a traditional Balinese master priest/carpenter. He is often on call to advise on highly complex Balinese temple buildings.
His skill, accuracy and attention to detail would be unsurpassed anywhere in the world.
He oversees all carpenters work and will not tolerate anything but the highest quality of workmanship.
Nyoman Sujana
This highly skilled carpenter is one of our foremen and takes personal responsibility for the high standard of work that our company is famous for.
